Brassica Seeds part 1

We have planted Brassica Seeds! 

April 20th  - We planted our seeds.  We have to be sure to give them water and light.  We will see what happens.

April 23rd - Our seeds sprouted!  Some people had tall plants and some had small plants.  Some people had many plants and some had no plants.

Here are all of our plants.  The are watered from the bottom because there are holes in the bottom of the cups.  They all live under a grow light in the classroom.

We learned how to make and write observations.  One observation we made is that some of the roots are already coming out of the bottom of the cup.

Cool Como Conservatory !

Yesterday we visited Como Conservatory and Zoo.  Here are some things we want to remember:

We went to a plant class where we learned more about plants.  We also made bath salts with eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender.  We went on a scavenger hunt through part of the conservatory looking for specific plants.  After the plant class, we looked around the zoo and saw many animals.  We took a class picture before we came back to school.  It was a fun trip!

High Five for Friday!

Yesterday we:

5.  Watched The Lorax.  We learned about planting seeds, taking care of the Earth and stopping pollution.

4.  In Music, we learned four songs that we will perform at the International Festival.

3.  We planted our Brassica seeds.  They are under a light and we gave them plenty of water to last the weekend.

2.  We revisited division...and we love it!  The key to division is sharing equally.

1.  We said good-bye to S. who is returning to China.  We wrote him notes during writing time and gave them to him to take home.

Second Grade Concert Recap!

 Last week we had our very first concert!  It was very exciting. Here are some thoughts from the students. 



We have a book we are making called "Special Times in Second Grade."  We have been writing in it each time something special, important or memorable has happened.   At the end of the year, students will be able to take them home. 

First Concert Practice

Today we had our first practice for our concert.  It was amazing!  We are expected to show our best behavior and singing ability. 

At the very end the teachers came in to hear us sing. 

After the practice, Ms. Liadova came to each classroom to tell us we did a wonderful job and that she was very proud of us.  We thought it was very fun!

Don't forget, the concert is Tuesday, April 10th at 6:30 p.m.  We will also perform for the entire school at 2:45 p.m.
