SeeSaw

Hi!  I am using a new tool to communicate with families and share what we are doing each day at school.  It is easier, faster and I can share things like videos more easily.  If you have not signed up yet, please do.  I will send home another qrcode if needed.  Thank you!

Roseville City Hall Field Trip

Wow!  What an amazing day we had!  Everyone did their very best and I was very proud of them.  We received many compliments as we traveled to the different stations.

Our first stop was the Police Station.  We learned about how the different parts of the department work, we saw a jail cell and we got to try out the police car.

Our second stop was the Public Works.  We learned about how they take care of our city.  We saw the different trucks they use to do their important work.

Next we visited the Fire Station.  We learned all about the Fire Engine.  It is like a huge tool box.  They even have a special kit to take care of endangered pets.  We got to sit in the BIG truck!

Our last stop was to hear from the Mayor!  He has a real job too, but really likes talking with us about his important job as Mayor.  He answered our questions and shared a lot about what he does.

Wrapping Up The Week!

Well, the first week is in the record books!  What a great week it was!

This morning, we had a break outside and played with our friends!

This afternoon we wrapped up the day with some writing in our very own book.  Each student will write about special things we do all year long.  Today we wrote our first entry!

Math Tubs

Thursday we had time to explore our math tubs that we will use this year.  Each table group was given a tub of unifix cubes, multi-connect cubes or pattern blocks.  It was fun to see the kids explore and work together, sort or on their own to create something.  We practiced how to put these materials away when we are finished.

Making Friends in 2nd grade

Wednesday was our second day of school!  Today was all about learning about our classmates and making friends!

We read the book Rainbow Fish to learn about how to be a good friend -  share, use kinds words and be accepting.

Then, we played a game where we had to find friends who did or had some specific things.  It was lots of fun and everyone enjoyed talking with each other and learning about what  makes each person special.

At the end of the day we had some time on the playground to enjoy the beautiful day and play together!

First Day of Second Grade!

Today was the very first day of school!  We had a fabulous time learning all about how we will do school this year.

Here is our first class picture, not official as we are missing a few students, but all of us on the first day nonetheless.

We were a bit disappointed that we had indoor recess, but as we discussed, part of growing up is being flexible and able to adapt to what is going on at the moment.  We are hoping for better weather for the rest of the week.

Last Day of Second Grade

Today was the last day of 2nd grade!  It was a little sad and a little exciting at the same time.  We had a mini graduation, listened to stories that Mrs. Anderson wanted to share, we signed class books and memory books and we watched a little more of Ramona and Beezus.

We sure had a great year!  Thank you for all of your support, caring and hard work with your student.  I am so glad I had the chance to work with this group of students!  We have all grown this year!  We have a lot to celebrate!

All the best to you as 3rd graders!  Happy Summer!

Dear Future Me . . .

Last week we had the students write a paragraph about something they felt that they accomplished or made great growth in this year.  We worked on language they could use and structure for explaining how they accomplished their goal.  They drew a selfie to go along with their writing.

This week we recorded each student reading his/her letter and attached his/her selfie.

They turned out very well!  This is surely something to treasure!  Enjoy!
