Second Grade Concert

This week was our concert! 

Here are a few pictures to review the event! 

We did the school concert during the day.  It was fun, but we were a bit nervous.  

Then, everyone came for the evening concert we did for our families.  It went very well too!  Our families were so proud of us!

Antonym Ants

This we we finished up our work with word fun.  We learned about Antonyms!  Antonyms are words that have opposite meanings.

As a part of our study we made Antonym Ants!  They turned out very cute and really show the meaning of the words.  

Como Conservatory and Zoo Field Trip

Today was our Field Trip!  It was a fun visit to the Conservatory!  Ask your child all about what we did and what we are making.  

We started in the Conservatory.  We did a scavenger hunt through the North Garden learning about some of the plants in that room.

Then we had some free time to explore.  Different groups did a variety of things including explore the Tropical area, visit some animals and spend more time in the Conservatory. 










The last thing we did was go to the Plants That Care class.  It was lots of fun!  We made bath salts, played a game and did an activity with a partner to learn about the parts of a plant.

Plants in Room 109

We have been very busy with Science these past few days!  We have planted brassica and grass.  They have already grown enough to notice.  We have done observations twice to document the growth of the brassica plants!  It is an exciting time in our room!

Homophones

Last week we learned about Homophones!  It was a lot of fun to think of all of the different combinations of words that are homophones.  It was a little tricky to distinguish between homophones and homonyms. 

Friday we did a special project to illustrate two homophones.  We made a pair of pears!

Synonym Rolls

This week we made Synonym Rolls!  Ask your child about what a synonym is and the special  book we used to do this project!

Library 4/5

In Library we are learning about how to find books in the Fiction section of the library.  This is the section that has the chapter books!  We are really good at finding books in the Everybody section so making the transition should be easy.  We worked with a partner to find a specific book then we checked with a teacher.  

These kids really love to read!  At the end of Library we have some time to start reading our new books.
