Today was full of surprises!
5. We had gym and did the Rainbow Run.
4. We celebrated A.'s birthday.
3. We continued to work on vocabulary for our study of Wants and Needs.
2. In Work on Writing time we wrote notes and compliments to special people.
1. In math, we worked on doubles +1 and doubles +2 strategies. We also cut out Fact Triangles.

High Five for Wednesday!
We have been so busy this week learning more routines and procedures. This week we have learned all about what to do during Literacy Workshop.
Today, we really enjoyed:
5. We started to pick books from our classroom library for our Literacy bags. We will use our Literacy bags during Read to Self time next week. We can't wait!
4. We continued to work on our Monster stories. Most of us worked on our final copies and started illustrating. Our monsters look great!
3. In math we learned about doubles. We are continuing to build our fact power!
2. We had Read to Self time. We are reading for almost 20 minutes!
1. In gym, we played Pin Guard.
It was a fantastic day!

5. We had a special treat! We had a Starburst because we have all been doing and returning our homework.

3. In Art, we painted our medallions.
2. We continued to work on our Monster descriptions. Ms. A says they look amazing and we are doing a great job of describing our creatures! We will start drawing them on Monday.
1. In math, we practiced telling time to the hour and half hour. We have one page of homework.

5. Art - We started our lions. They have lots of colors and lots of patterns.

Tuesday High Five!
Here are the best things we did today!
5. We went to Art and started a clay project.
4. In math we learned about clocks and time. We also did our first mathboxes of the year.
3. We went to the Library! We met Ms. Z and Mrs. McNulty and learned about how to use the library. We got to check out two books.
2. Ms. Anderson read us another chapter from Gooney Bird Greene. It is really funny!
1. We are building stamina for reading. We practiced Read to Self for 5 minutes. It was wonderful!

Our First Week!
Friday, we made quilts to represent our special memories from our first week in second grade. Here are a few samples of our quilts:

First Day of Second Grade !
Today was a wonderful day! It was very hot ! Here are the top five things that happened today:
5. Ms. Anderson read Miss Smith's Incredible Storybook. In the book, all of the characters popped out of the story and came to life.
4. We learned about how to behave in the lunchroom. We made a chart of what the lunchroom should look like, sound like and feel like. Ms. Connelly asked us to put it up in the lunchroom.
3. In math we learned about the numberline.
2. We went to Phy. Ed. and met Mr. DePrez. We played a tag game and jumped rope.
1. Tonight we have four things to share with our families.
It was a super fun day and tomorrow will be even better!
