Roll a Snowman!

This afternoon we played a Roll a Snowman game!  It was so much fun!

In pairs, you take turn rolling a die.  On each roll, you complete another part of the body as prescribed by the game board.

Your child brought the game home and the snowmen he/she created.  It was so much fun, we did not want to stop to go to Art.  Ask your child about the game.

Writing Sharing

To end our morning of reading we shared our "Blank Book" writing project.  Mrs. Erickson has started us on a wonderful journey of creating our own books.  Students have had time to work on these books all fall.  She has made blank books for the class to use to create their own writings.  These books are literally blank and students can write their won book.  She initially gave some instruction about the types of books they could write. i.e. nonfiction, how to, a story, personal narrative, series etc.  Today, in small groups, students shared one of their best books.  It was so much fun!

Then we asked for nominations from students of a book that he/she heard a classmate share he/she thought was really great.  We then asked that nominated person if he/she wanted to share his/her story with the class.  Many students were brave enough to share!

It was an awesome way to end the morning!  Your child will have his/her blank books to take home today!

Coding

As a part of our morning we did more coding! It was lots of fun to work with a partner on this task!

Reading Party - Part Two

After reading with our buddies we did some silent reading in our classroom!  It was awesome!  These kids sure love to read!

Reading with Buddies

Today to kick off our Reading Party we read with our Fifth grade buddies!  It was so much fun to be with them again and share some good stories.

New Book Week!

Today we had the chance to look through the new books purchased this fall for the library.  There were 7 tables full of new books.  In groups, we rotated to all the tables to look through the books.  We saw many, many good books that we can't wait to checkout in 2018!

Hour of Code!

Today we joined with Miss Olson's class to do The Hour of Code!  Ms. Zbacnik introduced us to coding and explained what students would be doing.  Then we worked in pairs to try some coding.  It was hard work and we had to be patient, but it was lots of fun!  Ask your child about what he/she did!
