Last Day of Second Grade

Today was the last day of 2nd grade!  It was a little sad and a little exciting at the same time.  We had a mini graduation, listened to stories that Mrs. Anderson wanted to share, we signed class books and memory books and we watched a little more of Ramona and Beezus.

We sure had a great year!  Thank you for all of your support, caring and hard work with your student.  I am so glad I had the chance to work with this group of students!  We have all grown this year!  We have a lot to celebrate!

All the best to you as 3rd graders!  Happy Summer!

Dear Future Me . . .

Last week we had the students write a paragraph about something they felt that they accomplished or made great growth in this year.  We worked on language they could use and structure for explaining how they accomplished their goal.  They drew a selfie to go along with their writing.

This week we recorded each student reading his/her letter and attached his/her selfie.

They turned out very well!  This is surely something to treasure!  Enjoy!

Cardboard Creators!

Today in Library students had time to create things using so many different media and tools!  Ask you child about what he/she did and made!

Our Class Memory Book

Today we looked through our special memory book!  This book is full of pictures, a letter from Mrs. Anderson,  lists of our favorite memories and books and a paragraph about each month of school!  It is just for our class!  Everyone got one and we will sign them tomorrow!

It was lots of fun to look through them and remember all of the good things we did this year!

Summer Reading - Roseville Library

Today we had the chance to hear about the summer reading program through the Ramsey County Libraries!

For more information, click Ramsey County Library - Roseville

The kids all were very excited to participate!  This is another way to keep kids reading this summer!

Ramona Quimby, Age 8

Last week and this week we have been listening to and reading Ramona Quimby, Age 8 by Beverly Cleary.

This has been a special experience because we have been listening to it on tape!  We each have a copy of the book and we follow along as we listen.  It is so much fun!

We are also taking notes about each chapter as we read.

Portfolio Sharing

Wow!  What an awesome afternoon!

This afternoon we shared all of our hard work with our families.  We gathered all of our writing and a few other projects into a folder to read and discuss.  We talked about what was our purpose in writing each piece, what specific language was used for each piece and what genre is the piece.

As Mrs. Erickson and I watched families interact it was very exciting for us to watch each student explain his/her piece and read it to his/her parent(s).  The students were so proud of the work!  Everyone was very engaged and seemed to enjoy the time together!

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us!

She showed us this video about why we should read this summer!  It is so important to keep reading!
