Surveys

Today we started a new math unit all about data analysis.  We learned about taking a survey!  As a part of the lesson we had to take three surveys of our classmates.  It was lots of fun!  We used the data to answer some questions.

As a part of the homework, students have to take surveys of 10 people.  We talked about how they could "find" 10 people to ask.  Most students could think of 10 people they could ask, especially if they could get some help texting or calling a few relatives etc.  Thank you!

Love is . . .

Today we read a book about how families and people show love.  I asked the students to think about how their families show love.  Students had to think of a specific way, something that was unique.  Students had to complete the sentence prompt "Love is . . ." Then, they illustrated their sentence.  It was so awesome to see what everyone wrote and shared.  Ask your child about how he/she responded.

The Olympics of Books

Today in Library Ms. Zbacnik introduced us to what she called the "Olympics of Books."  We learned all about the Caldecot Medal.  W learned about how the medal got its name.  We looked at a few of the books that have won the gold and silver medals over the years.  She read us the winner from this year!  Ask your child to retell it to you!

Field Trip: The Wiz

We had an amazing field trip today to the Children's Theater to see The Wiz.  It was very well done with lots of action, singing and audience participation.  It also had a good central message of believe in yourself, you have what you need to be successful!

Ask your child about his/her favorite part!
