Complete any 8 activities and the back page - Read, write, draw activity.
Return the completed form to the library to collect your prize.  Prizes are one State Fair ticket and              a book!

There are also lots of special activities going on at the library this summer!  Please be sure to get information about these things on your next visit.

Portfolio Party!

This afternoon was an awesome to celebrate all that these 2nd graders have learned this year!

Thank you for coming to hear about and look at our writing portfolios.  It was so much fun to see all the families intentionally looking through the projects and having conversations about them.  I loved seeing the families spending time together!  Thank you for making time to be with us!

Postcard Project!

Today we wrapped up the Postcard Project!

All year we have been researching landmarks across the United States.  We used this information for this project.  We pretended to be at one landmark and wrote a postcard to our family telling them what we are doing and seeing.  We also illustrated the front of the postcard.

Everyone worked really hard on this!  It was a challenge to take the perspective of being someplace you have never visited.  They are wonderful!  We will be doing a special project with Ms. Z nexgt week using these final products!

Celebration of Learning Assembly

Yesterday we had a first ever Celebration of Learning assembly!  It was a time for each grade level to tell about what they learned this year.  Each grade level also demonstrated their proposal for the new Brimhall Cheer!  It was lots of fun!

Mrs. Brink and Mr. DePrez welcoming everyone!

Woohoo!

Blaze made an appearance!

Welcome Blaze!

Showing how to be a good listener.

Second grade telling about whey they learned!

Maker Space in the Library!

Today was another chance to do some exploring with technology, creating, taking apart, coding and working together!  We had Maker Space!  It was lots of fun and there was lots of self directed earning going on by everyone!  Ask your child about what he/she did.    Everyone did a great job!

Poems Galore!

This week we learned about how to write two types of poems.  We learned about Haiku poetry and Acrostic Poetry.  Each one is very different than writing a paragraph or story.  Haiku is an arrangement of syllables and words into a prescribed form and is usually about nature.  Acrostic poems are written using the first letter of the topic of the poem.

We had time to write and revise each type of poetry.  Today, we illustrated our poems.  They turned out beautiful in both what was written and the pictures to go with it.

Everyone did a super good job and worked very hard!

Library today!

Today in Library we learned about the Caldecott Medal.  This award is given to books that have excellent illustrations.  Many books have won the gold medal or silver medals over the years.  The silver medals represent the honor books.  Ask your child what he/she remembers about this award.

Ms. Z read us the winner from this year!  It was a biography about a famous artist.

These were the honor books from this year!

These kids sure do love good books and love to read!
